Narishige's SN-2N has a heavy base with a low center of gravity to minimize vibrations. Used for cats, small dogs and monkeys, this instrument has a heavy base with a low center of gravity. To fix the zero point of head -- which is its basic axis -- in position, units for fixing three separate points are mounted on a U-frame.

     The AP frame bar is 18.7mm square, and sufficiently long for the attachment of manipulators and various other accessories. The U-frame itself can be moved freely. Numerous screw holes are provided on the base frame to allow the attachment of different kinds of accessories or spinal cord fixing equipment. By changing the adaptors used at the three support points, it is possible to fix many kinds of animals.
