Narishige's MMN-1 is a 3-axis, direct-drive coarse micromanipulator, which is commonly used in conjunction with remote-controlled hydraulic micromanipulators.

     Its purpose is to rapidly position the micropipette prior to fine micromanipulation. It is specifically designed to mount onto the illumination pillar of any inverted microscope with the use of a variety of microscope adapters.
