Dr. Kenyon's lab is focused on a molecular genetic dissection of aging vs. longevity, using C. elegans.  The lab discovered that the worm homolog of the human insulin / IGF-1 receptor (DAF-2), and the FOXO-family transcription factor DAF-16, coordinately regulate lifespan transcriptionally and hormonally.  Their parallel studies show that the heat-shock, reproductive, mitochondrial and sensory systems each contribute to aging.  [More...]
