Microforge (for Metal Electrodes)

MF-77:  $5,621.62 - Discontinued
Producing metal electrodes by electrolytic grinding and glass coating.

This microforge produces metal electrodes by using electrolytic grinding to sharpen the tips of wires made of tungsten, stainless steel, elgiloy and other such materials and then coating them with glass. The metal wire is ion-electrolyzed by being placed in a liquid well containing distilled water, and then inserting negative and positive electrodes: dipping the wire in and out of this liquid well makes it progressively thinner and sharpens the tip. This in-and-out action is easily performed by the manipulator, whose motor drive unit makes the repeated vertical movements required.

To make glass coated metal electrodes, the liquid well is detached and replaced by an M-shaped heater, in which grains of solder glass are melted; the electrolyzed electrode is then passed through this melted glass.
