Scientist Profile: Dr. Yishi Jin

The Jin lab uses C. elegans to perform a molecular genetic dissection of synapse formation, maintenance, axonal regeneration and the specification of GABAergic neurons.  They screen for mutations that disrupt these processes, then clone the related genes to study their wild-type functions.  They identified RPM-1, a regulator of presynaptic morphology, determining it is a ubiquitin ligase that regulates a MAP kinase.  [More...]
