Scientist Profile: Dr. Iva Greenwald

Dr. Greenwald's lab studies how cell-cell signaling can specify cell fate during development.  They utilize the differentiation of pluripotent C. elegans vulval precursor cells (VPCs) to specific cell fates as a model.  This rich system includes LIN-12/Notch, a receptor tyrosine kinase (RTK) / Ras / mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase cascade, its proteolytic cleavage by a Delta / Serrate / LAG-2 ligand, wnt signaling, and microRNA-mediated gene regulation.  [More...]
