The IM-401 is a modern update, bringing Narishige's line of Electronic Microinjection Controllers up to and surpassing 2025 standards. Instead of lots of buttons, dials, and a large foot-print like their IM-300, this update uses a touch screen with one knob, a small vertical footprint,and provides an ergonomic foot pedal to trigger it.

This electric microinjector allows for the precise injection of small liquid volumes, optimized for DNA/RNA injection, gene transfer, etc. The intuitive touch panel makes it easy to adjust the injection pressure, time, and balance pressure. Injections can be performed using either a panel button or included foot switch.

Improved Balance pressure control
The IM-401's balance pressure can be adjusted in 0.1kPa increments from 1 to 100kPa. This improved feature enables stable balance pressure control when injecting under water or against back-pressure, and facilitates use of micropipettes with relatively large tip diameters. The IM-401 has been optimized to return from injecting pressure to balance pressure quickly and smoothly with minimal fluctuation.

Compatible with various pipettes


These optional attachments are sold separately and allow users to replace the cap on the included injection holder with different types of pipettes.

Note: The IM-401 requires an external pressure source to operate. If you have laboratory compressed air available, ask us about available adapters to use if conveniently. Otherwise, we offer MINJ-CMPR1, a small quiet air compressor or TREG-N2, a nice Nitrogen cylinder pressure regulator.
