Narishige's MO-95 is a remote-controlled oil-hydraulic micromanipulator for chronic experiments on the skulls of middle size animals, mainly monkeys. Employment of the oil hydraulic system enables microelectrodes to be inserted by remote control, without vibration. The chamber method is used, so that slight movements by the subject animal will not dislodge the microelectrode, while attachment/ detachment can be done freely. The acrylic XY stage makes it easy to position the microelectrodes with great accuracy while visually confirming their location. Microelectrodes ranging from 0.3 to 2mm can be used, by adjusting the positions of the packing and the microelectrodes themselves. Since this model uses the microelectrode expose method, any kind of microelectrode can be used. When the chain bar is filled with Ringer's solution, brain activity stops and long time recording becomes possible.

Oil Hydraulic Micromanipulator

  MO-96:  $6,756.76 - Ships in 1-5 days
Image for Single-Axis Oil Hydraulic Fine Microdrive Micromanipulator (Skull Mounting) coming soon!
Narishige's MO-96 is a oil hydraulic micromanipulator meant to be mounted on the skull of a medium-sized animal such as monkeys to perform chronic experiments. Its 15mm fine movement range permits deeper brain insertion of a microelectrode. The MO-96 allows a separately available guide tube to be fitted for precise positioning and insertion of a microelectrode into hard tissue or deep brain cells. Despite these added features, the drive unit has reduced its weight to lighten the burden on the animal.

Its remotely controlled oil hydraulic system permits vibration-free insertion of a microelectrode. With the detachable/attachable drive unit fixed on the skull mount chamber, even if the animal head moves, the microelectrode can be held in position. A transparent acrylic X-Y stage permits visual observation of the microelectrode insertion. By adjusting the positions of the gasket and the electrode holder, various types of microelectrodes can be used with the MO-96. The skull mount chamber can be filled with Ringer's solution to bring the functioning of the brain to a complete halt, which permits recording for prolonged periods of time.

*Used in combination with a pulse motor microdrive, this system permits even more accurate operation.

Water Hydraulic Micromanipulators

Three-Axis Water Hydraulic Fine Micromanipulator (1:1 System)

  MHW-103:  $6,486.49 - Ships in 1-5 days
Image for Three-Axis Water Hydraulic Fine Micromanipulator (1:1 System) coming soon!
Narishige's MHW-103 is a liquid hydraulic micromanipulators developed for patch clamping generally use the 1:5 cartridge system to solve the problem of drifting. It has a wide driving range while keeping drift to a minimum. Since this can limit their driving range to as little as 2mm, customers who want a wide driving range are recommended to choose this product, which uses a 1:1 cartridge. The drum type control unit has a large handle for precise operation and high linear repeatability. The water hydraulic system is less prone to drift caused by changes in temperature than an oil hydraulic system, and is thus more suitable for patch clamping. A coarse manipulator is not mounted, so one must be purchased separately.

*For attachment to the microscope, a coarse manipulator and suitable adaptor are required (sold separately).
*Select Type B adaptor for mounting this manipulator in combination with MMN-1 coarse manipulator.

Three-Axis Water Hydraulic Fine Micromanipulator

  MHW-3:  $7,945.95 - Ships in 1-5 days
Image for Three-Axis Water Hydraulic Fine Micromanipulator coming soon!
Narishige's MHW-3 is a water hydraulic micromanipulator specially designed for patch clamping. Its water hydraulic system has a lower coefficient of expansion than an oil hydraulic system, and allows precise movement. A 1:5 cartridge is incorporated to minimize drifting. The large, rigid driving unit enables fine movements and coarse manipulations and a sturdy ball joint is also used. Installation is made more rigid by securing attachments to the bar. The drum type control unit has a large handle for precise operation and high linear repeatability. Overall, design considerations are focused on precision movement and stability over long periods of time. This model set the standards for subsequent models of micromanipulators for patch clamping.

*For attachment to the microscope, a suitable adaptor is required (sold separately).
*The micromanipulator can be mounted directly on the isolation table.
*This model can be firmly fixed to any part of the isolation table with GJ-12 thin-type magnetic stand (sold separately).
*AP-12A/AP-12L/AP-12N/AP-13-2 patch clamp headstage holders can be attached on the B-9 ball joint, incorporated in the manipulator .
*Combining the ball joint that attaches the micromanipulator with MHW-4 single-axis water hydraulic micromanipulator enables four-dimensional remote controlled movement.

Image for Three-Axis Water Hydraulic Micromanipulator coming soon!
Narishige's WR-6 is a three-axis water hydraulic micromanipulator that is highly recommended for patch clamping from the microscope stage slide.

Employing a water hydraulic system, which has a lower coefficient of expansion due to temperature changes, this model offers precise movement while minimizing drift by incorporating a 1:5 cartridge.
